Grade school 1 to 4 in Sachsen has a subject called Sachunterricht. This covers a mixture of science, social, economic and historical topics of our region.
For this month, kids are currently learning what school was like in the old days so they have been visiting museums as well as learning how to read and write the old German script.
One of girl’s assignment also includes giving us an interview about what school was like for us before.
Mine is: school uniform, 50 students in class, english speaking campaign where we get fined for speaking our own mother tongue, punishment for being late or forgetting the assignment is to sing the Philippine national anthem at the court by ourselves loud enough for everyone to hear, kneeling, cleaning of the bathroom or if you are not lucky, a slap in the face.
