A German Cake

12 years of making cakes and still it is ugly as sin. Even though it came straight from the box and I just basically add eggs and whatnots.

My cake is a typical east German cakes that most grandmas make. Those who survived world war 1 and 2 and communist era I mean. They call it “kuchen” here or perhaps you will know it as “naked cake”. So no sugary icing filled with cups of sugar and definitely no marzipan that you can carve into shapes like you would a play-doh. But what I lack in talent, I make up with cake toppings where I do one of the hardest decisions of my life of which topping decor to buy exactly and how to place them strategically on the cake. ☺️

Kids are happy nevertheless. But unfortunately, I cannot fool my husband. Still he does not complain which is very smart of him. 😁

So birthday is done and the boy said that the day went by too quickly like a blink of an eye. We kept all the decorations and told him that there is still the party to look forward to with his friends and then christmas and a new year again where we eagerly wait for his next birthday.

But now, the year is about to end and although there is still one birthday to celebrate but since it’s mine so I declare that I am done for this year with all this torture of baking a cake.

Greetings,

Karlota
