Bio, Recycling and being “in Order”

We were watching a netflix magic show of Justin Willman and one of the episodes is moving a shopping cart behind the car if the shopping cart was not returned properly.

And there are a lot of people who just leave the cart after using it as if expecting someone to come and pick it up for them. They should try doing that in Germany or at least in our town and they will have righteous grandmas and grandpas if not spinster or old hag scolding them for being rude. Everything must be “in order” in Germany. And yes, I have received a lot of scolding myself in my 13 years in Germany. Something that annoys me in the beginning until I become one of the old hag scolding young folks myself. I am becoming German in more ways than one.

Other things that German love is recycling. And they take it very seriously. We pay more than 200 euro a year for trash collection and everything must be sorted in our home before they get picked up. And by “sorted”, that means any plastic tape or metal staple must be removed from the paper box before they are dumped in our blue box meant for paper. We have three of those trash boxes: blue for papers, yellow for plastics and black for “rest”.

Mann being Mann, he found out that the collection of rest trash is 8 euro per pick up but a bio trash is only 4 euro. So he went to order a bio box and we will try to reduce and really sort out the waste so our rest trash will be picked up only once a month.

Doable? The germans in our house will make it doable. And there are three of them fanatic in our house and only one “bahala na si lord” idiot so I am sure it shall be done.

Are you doing things “in order” too?

Greetings,

Karlota
