Grilling at the Elbe

Filipinos in Dresden decided to meet up again, have a picnic, bring foods for sharing/ grilling, play some games and simply have fun.

Yes, it is nice to see people that looked like me and talked like me. And by word of mouth, the event was passed on to other Filipinos that even those from Poland came by.  One of them is an interesting person that goes by the name of Michael.

I’d say interesting because he is a Filipino but was born in America, he used to be an American soldier but is now working as a civilian in Poland. He was one of the American soldiers that was stationed in Germany when the east and west were still divided and he talked about going back to Philippines and meeting a west German soldier and an East German soldier and how they would go for a drink. A Russian soldier is the only thing missing to complete the picture.

The nice thing about talking to a male is they give a different perspective. So him and my Mann talked about the casualties of war where the Germans have a lot to be guilty about and Michael was asked if Americans also feel guilty and if there is really a reason for the second nuke in Japan. He said that when the first nuke was used, there was no response. It was a first of all firsts and I guess they did not think that people were shocked wondering what for an abomination is that thing. So the second nuke was fired and oh yes, that thing worked after all.

Not to sound insensitive or whatever but it did happen and we saw the effects and we could only hope it does not happen again. And no Germany does not own a nuclear weapon. Sadly, because of German ingenuity, they can kill more effectively which we hope to never happen again. 🤞🤞🤞

Greetings,

Karlota
