My girl is now interested in jewelry so I wanted to buy her some for Christmas. I wanted to go for a brand this time so I checked for charmed bracelets from Pandora.
If you are crazy about labels and reading tiny prints, bracelets from Pandora are made of some metal alloy at the core and then PLATED by silver, 14Karat rosegold or 14Karat gold.
If your bracelet weighs 100 grams, the silver amount could be just less than 1 gram depending on the thickness and surface area. And unlike industrial parts, coating on jewelries can go as thin as a piece of paper if not thinner.
Bought sterling silver (I find gold to be ostentatious even if it’s only coating) charmed bracelet with a charmed M. It did not mention what type of silver so I assume 925 which means it is 92.5% silver and the rest of 7.5% could be copper and other metal. Total cost is €70 and take note, it is made in THAILAND.
Would it be cheaper if I bought it in Thailand? Most probably. The gold plated charmed ones could go more than €100 and I was talking with mom and told her how I find it all to be expensive. Mom said that that is nothing and she happily told me how she went shopping and bought a gold piece of jewelry for more than €1000. Was that full gold or some steel and coated with gold? I wouldn’t know. Mom bought it in Ayala Mall but in the Philippines, you can get away with a lot of things so forgive me if I have my doubts and think that mom spent more than she should.
In spite of it all, I still plan to buy more pieces from Pandora for my girl. Next time, I am eyeing for a charmed necklace.
Have you opened a pandora box yet and unleashed an evil desire to buy more? 🤭
Greetings,
Karlota
