It will take more than 7 hours to drive from our house to Billund, Denmark so we made Schwerin our pitstop with a 2-nights stay at Niederländischer Hof.

Founded in 1901, the hotel, named so after the Duke of Mecklenburg at that time married the queen of Netherland, is nevertheless modern with a traditional touch from its 4-poster beds and antique chandeliers.
Of course I do not know these things when I was looking for a hotel. All I care is the location and offers a room that can accommodate all 4 of us together.

Room is lovely and breakfast is good. Kids are happy and so am I.
Greetings,
Karlota
