The bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel was declared as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It is also the largest European hillside park. Yes, it has gotten quite touristy but I don’t feel that claustrophobic because we were still able to walk around this huge park and NOT see anyone.
Getting inside the bergpark is absolutely FREE. We just drove in, park the car and started hiking up to Castle Wilhelmshöhe, the Lion’s Castle and Hercules Monument at the summit. Of course, getting inside to these buildings has entrance fee because they turned it into a museum but we don’t need that when there is a forest to see, the architecture to enjoy and the view to breathe in.
I really love Wilhelmshöhe.
