Castle Hartenfels

There are 20,000+ castles, palaces and ruins in Germany. And with missiles flying around because of idiots attacking first and now urging the other world leaders to help these idiots, plane tickets have never been this expensive for a family of 4. So we stay in Europe in general, specifically Germany.

Castle Hartenfels in Torgau has been around since 1500. It used to be a one rectangle building only but it was attacked, rebuilt, burned, rebuilt, modernized until what we see nowadays. Not all castles/palaces are maintained in Germany because that would be expensive but Hartenfels is historically important enough because of first Protestant Church that was consecrated by Martin Luther himself. And they have this grand open staircase also that I love.

The whole day is spent in Torgau checking the museum inside the castle, promenade along the Elbe River, fishing, playground hopping and of course eating. Mann was fishing and kids cannot really stare forever until a fish will take the bait so dragged them to the nearby playground and then to the Vietnamese restaurant that offers kid menu for 7 euro and I am a salad and desert kind of person simply because a main dish is being served in a huge platter which I will never be able to finish. We do not waste food so I enjoyed my mango salad, leftovers from the kids and of course dessert.

It was a good day. We shall return.

Greetings,

Karlota
