May God forgive me that I should rejoice in good fortune brought about by another’s death! Goodness knows, I never sought it. It has happened and I have not the strength to regret it.
MUST LOVE the CLASSIC. I mean who writes or thinks like that still nowadays?
The hardbound Macmillan Collector’s Library Edition was already an abridged version because yes, like what the translator’s mentioned, who reads a three volume book still. But I am happy it retains the nuances of the old language style somehow.
Currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas for the first time in my 40-something and planning to fill our bookshelves with hardbound classical books. Books that connect generations and boundaries.
Do you collect books also?
Greetings,
Karlota
