Second Home – Berlin

Mann’s new job is in Berlin, about 3 hours from our home. If we had known that the company in our place would have gone down, would we have built our house here? Probably not. But we never thought it would be like this so half a million euro later, we settled and built a life. And then suddenly, the job is gone!

But what can we do? We adapt, we make new plans and whatever it is, we  always move as a team: Mann, me and our kids. Reality is our town is losing young people and gaining old ones. Missing doctors here, fewer teachers there and the list can go on. So yeah, when I was looking for a job on behalf of my Mann, what better place is there than Berlin.

“Mietzuschuss” or rent subsidy is one of the benefits package offered in his new job as a Senior Lead Piping Engineer. Because he cannot travel 6 hours back and forth everyday now can he? The plan is for him to travel on Monday, work full time from Tuesday to Thursday and then travel back home on Friday. And if all goes well, kids will be going to University in Berlin later.  That is my evilish plan for all this. 🤭 And the best part of being in Berlin is that nobody finds us weird amidst all other crazy people there and of course this Pinoy Restaurant nearby.

So this is how we will roll for now and we will play it by ear. Until life throws us something new again anyway for us to adapt again.

Greetings,

Karlota
